There’s no denying how games have become a critical part of mainstream entertainment these days. Gone are the days where only a select group of people were holed up in their rooms or couches, moving mice or mashing buttons with their own select group of friends. It’s gone mainstream and everyone, we mean EVERYONE, is getting in on it. It’s big business and the companies themselves have gotten to be mega corporations.
So when documentary comes out, allowing us to look into how the industry has gotten to be what it is today, or to celebrate a long standing title, we pay attention. Of course, not all these documentaries hit our theaters or even our local TV stations, so how else do we get to see them? Well we’ve compiled five free (and pretty well made) gaming documentaries that have been made available FREE and most importantly, legally, on YouTube for your viewing pleasure.
So sit back, relax and enjoy these look into some of the biggest games that have hit our PCs and consoles.
World of Warcraft: Looking for Group Documentary
There’s no denying that the majority of Blizzard’s games have had an impact on the gaming scene. World of Warcraft is a juggernaut of an MMORPG and while it isn’t the first, it is numbered as one of the greatest. With over 7 million subscribers, it is the worlds biggest RPG and people are still willing to pay to play it.
How did it get to this though? This recent documentary by Blizzard themselves takes a look at how one game became a global phenomenon and how their games of old have informed and helped in the phenomenon that is the World of Warcraft MMORPG. You really have to watch this, especially if you’re a World of Warcraft fan.
