Square Enix has announced that the main antagonist of the original Final Fantasy will be added to the Dissidia Final Fantasy arcade game via an update scheduled for 21st April.
The introduction of Garland marks the first playable villain character in the arcade game with voice provided by Kōji Ishii, the narrator of Terraformars.
Among the features available in the arcade game is a 3 vs. 3 battle system. It also uses a summoning mechanic that can be used to summon the guardians and deities available in the various Final Fantasy Series.
The addition of Garland is a step towards achieving a target roster size of 50 characters as previously announced by Square Enix.
KOEI Tecmo developed the game which utilises technology for PlayStation 4 core system instead of a dedicated arcade circuit board. The game which was released in November last year is expected to be available on Playstation 4 at a later date.
