Chan-wook Park of Oldboy fame will be directing a film adaptation of Project Itoh‘s Genocidal Organ novel; with Hollywood backing.
The news came from The Tracking Board Hollywood news site, which also states that Sean Daniel (The Mummy franchise, Ben-Hur remake) and by extent, The Sean Daniel Company will be producing the film.
Genocidal Organ was already planned as an anime film adaptation as part of a trilogy adapting Project Itoh novels, including Empire of Corpses and Harmony. However, studio Manglobe, the guys originally handling it went under last September.
Geno Studio will be taking over the production of the film with director and writer Shokou Murase and “other main staff members” to complete the film by the end of this year.
The Genocidal Organ novel was released in English in 2012, with the story following American Intelligence agent Clavis Shepard as he tracks down terrorist John Paul in a future wrought with chaos and violence.
