Regarded as Godfather of the Dead by Horror fans, legendary George A. Romero has passed away.
According to Romero’s longtime producing partner, as reported by La Times, George A. Romero passed away after losing a brief but aggressive battle with cancer. It is also reported that George A. Romero died peacefully in his sleep while listening to the score to one of his favourite films of all time, The Quiet Man. His wife, Suzanne Desrocher Romero, and daughter, Tina Romero were by his side.
Romero pretty much created the Zombie genre and showed the world that you don’t need a big budget to create a genuinely scary movie. And while I’m not the biggest horror fan in the world, there is no denying what producer George A. Romero did for the industry. We send our thoughts and prayers to his family and friends. You will always be remembered. Rest in Peace.
