Game of Thrones author George R.R Martin has a new short story coming this Fall, and it will be about the Targaryen family.
The story, called The Sons of the Dragon will be published in fantasy anthology The Book of Swords, set to come this October. It will be much about the second and third Targaryen kings, Aenys I and Maegor the Cruel, and touch on their friends, families and enemies during their rein of power.
Both kinds reigned about 250 years before the current Westeros timeline (where Game of Thrones beings) where one of their last descendants, Daenerys begins to reclaim power.
Martin is also hard at work finishing the sixth book of the Song of Ice and Fire series, The Winds of Winter. He won’t be producing any more anthologies till he is done with that at least.
The Book of Swords will also be featuring other authors, Robin Hobb, Ken Liu, Garth Nix and Scott Lynch, and is due to hit the shelves 10 October 2017.
