Bandai Namco Games is showing off the opening animation video for God Eater 2 Rage Burst, the updated release of God Eater 2 as part of the franchise’s 5th anniversary, released in Japan on the PlayStation Portable and PlayStation Vita back in November 2012. The impressive video was produced by none other than ufotable, the people who made impressive animations for Fate/Stay Night and Fate/Zero.
Rage Burst will feature a host of new weapons, items, equipment and monsters. The game itself will be set in a grim future Japan, where large monsters codenamed Aragami have slaughtered most of humanity. In the game, the player is a God Eater, an elite group of soldiers whose mission is to crush the Aragami using weapons made from the Aragami’s own cells. Both games are developed by Shift and published under the aegis of Bandai Namco Games.
God Eater 2 Rage Burst is slated for release on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita on 19 February in Japan. Bandai Namco so far has not said anything about international export of this particular game yet. We hope it will happen since it does look quite awesome.
An anime adaptation of the game was also announced earlier at Tokyo Game Show 2014.
