There’s a new teaser for Toho’s new Godzilla Resurgence (Shin Godzilla) flick as well as a new visual that reads “Japan vs. Godzilla” and opening date.
The trailer has a very Cloverfield feel, with people running willy nilly as they flee from what we assume is Godzilla itself. We don’t know if it will be filmed from that perspective, but we hope we don’t have to sit through the entire movie Blair Witch style.
Actors will be Hiroki Hasegawa (Attack on Titan, Princess Jellyfish) as a person linked to the Japanese government when Godzilla attacks, Yutaka Takenouchi (Calmi Cuori Appassionati, Hoshi no Kinka) will play a similarly linked goverment person while Satomi Ishihara (Attack on Titan, Pokemon the Movie: Black) will portray an American agent.
Filming began in August and recently wrapped up last month. The new Godzilla will be the tallest one yet, taller than the 108 meter tall monstrosity that was in the 2014 Hollywood film. Godzilla Resurgence will be mainly set in modern Japan but there will be some involvement in the States; with Higuchi claiming that this will be the scariest Godzilla movie yet.
There is also another bunch of Godzilla movies in the works in Hollywood, with the films set to come out over the next three years.
Shin Godzilla/Godzilla Resurgence will hit cinemas in Japan 29 July 2016.
