Fancy some free storage for your Google Drive?
Google is offering 2GB of permanent Drive storage to those who complete their Security Checkup by 17 February 2015. The checkup will take about two minutes of your time and will help you ensure the health of your Drive contents.
While the files stored in Drive are encrypted by Google and kept safe in their data centers this checkup ensures you’re getting all you can out of Google’s offerings. Ideally, you should be paying the Google Safety Center a visit every time you replace an old laptop or get a new phone but there’s never harm in being careful. The checkup will do a number of things; check that your account recovery information is correct in the case of data loss or a hacking, lets you view recent sign in activity so you know if anyone else besides you have been in and out of your account and finally confirms apps and devices that access account info, letting you do a little housekeeping if you will.
Unfortunately, users that are using Google Apps for Work and Google Apps for Education aren’t eligible for the extra storage but Google encourages them to do the Security Checkup anyway. For those who are eligible and have done the checkup will receive the extra 2GB storage by 28 Februrary.
