Pieces of Eden and Possible Spoilers
So what is the true revelation at the heart of Assassin’s creed? What exactly are the pieces of Eden and who are Minerva, Juno and Jupiter (pictured above)?
Ok, well not quite “ancient aliens” but rather an ancient advanced civilisation. Minerva, Juno, and Jupiter were all part of a race of advanced humanoids who “created” humanity as a slave race before the humans rose up against them. While busy warring, the majority of the “Isu”, “Precursors or “First Civilisation” was wiped out when a solar flare racked the planet.
Before they died out there did seem to be some mingling between Isu and humanity, with Desmond retaining some of their DNA. This is why he was so important to the Templars and how he could operate the Pieces of Eden and vaults the precursors left behind. These three precursors worked on some plans to save themselves, although none were successful with Juno hijacking one such plan so that she could rule the world.
Discovering her plan Minerva imprisoned Juno within an artefact, one with the power to protect the planet, but that would also release Juno upon the world. That was the decision faced by Desmond at the end of ACIII. Desmond chose to save civilisation as we know it, reasoning that humanity would in time discover a way to defeat Juno, though losing his life in the process. This might have marked the end of Desmond, it wasn’t quite the end of the line for Juno and the precursors.
John, the fellow Abstergo employee who turns on the player in Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag, turns out to be a Sage or a genetic reincarnation of Juno’s Isu husband, Aita. While Juno was free, she was incorporeal, and John had been planning to resurrect her into a body before he was stopped.
While AC Rogue took a break from the precursor story line, Juno returned in AC Unity and AC Syndicate, with Abstergo seeking out more Sages to try and reconstruct a precursor in the modern day. In AC Syndicate the Fry twins are trying to keep the “Shroud of Eden” out of Abstergo’s hands preventing Juno from returning.
So far, it doesn’t seem as if the movie will delve into the more “far out” parts of Assassin’s Creed mythos. From what we’ve seen so far it may just contain itself to Assassin’s and Templar’s battling for the future of humanity. But if it does, it could end up being one of the trippiest films of the year.
Either way, we only have to wait until the end of December to find out…
Assassin’s Creed the movie will be released in Malaysia on 22 December 2016.
