The studio behind Big Brother and The Biggest Loser is producing the female-led action series based on the free-running video game franchise
Despite the game’s focus on surveillance and exercise, Mirror’s Edge won’t be a reality show. The 2008 game was a cult hit when it arrived, heralding a change in direction for publisher Electronic Arts who at that point was derided for churning out yearly sports titles and grinding franchises into the dust.
The sequel to Mirror’s Edge dubbed Catalyst is less than 2 weeks away, and this announcement by Endenmol Shine Studios to pick up the brand for a shot at the small screen could be a signal as to how much EA is banking on the parkour-based first person game.
Mirror’s Edge tells the story of Faith, a courier who hand-delivers messages in a world with total police surveillance. The game makes use of movement, momentum, and free-running (aka parkour) to traverse the world, and de-emphasized combat in favor of outmaneuvering your foes.
