HBO just released a trailer for upcoming series, Westworld.
Written by Micheal Crichton (Jurassic Park), it is a Western/sci-fi hybrid about an old American West theme park populated with robots to act out cowboy based fantasy or scenarios for the visitors. Then something goes horribly wrong and the robots rebel, killing tourists and any humans it can find. It is adapted into the 1973 film starring Yul Brynner and now HBO wants to make it a series. The network describe the series as “a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the future of sin“.
Confirmed cast for the series are Anthony Hopkins (Silence of the Lambs, Thor), Ed Harris (The Rock, Pollock), Evan Rachel Wood (Ides of March, Barefoot), James Marsden (X-Men), Thandie Newton (Mission Impossible II, ER) and Jeffrey Wright (The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part I and II). The casting is looking very impressive indeed. The series produced by people like J.J. Abrams (Star Trek, Star Wars), Jonathan Nolan (Interstellar), Lisa Joy and Bryan Burk with Nolan is the director of the pilot episode. Music scoring fells to Game of Thrones composer, Ramin Djawadi.
The series is set to fend off outlaws/Indians with the Colt six-shooter in 2016.
