Pokemon Refresh
Very similar to the Pokemon Ami feature from previous games, this feature allows you to clean up, feed and otherwise care for your Pokemon (like treating poisoning and paralysis) to raise their affection towards you. Well loved Pokemon will fight harder, and even hold on the verge of fainting during battles.
Trials instead of Gyms
Moving away from the traditional Gyms that every Pokemon game has had before, games now have Trials. Each Alolan island will have a different Trial Captain, which is basically their version of a Gym leader.
Instead of just battling everyone in the gym, you’ll be given a series of challenges, which are more than just simple battling. At the end of all this you’ll have to fight the island’s Totem Pokemon and possibly capture it. This alone should freshen up the experience by a lot; I mean, who doesn’t love quests?
Team Skull
Of course with every other Pokemon game comes a new team of antagonists. The Alola region is home to Team Skull, a bunch of ruffians who delight in making a mess of things. They seem quite a far cry from Team Rocket, but it was just a matter of time before GameFreak hit the gangsta theme.
Pokemon Sun and Moon is already available or preorder and purchase from multiple retailers, with it officially hitting the shelves on 18 November.
