The latest issue of Entertainment Weekly has revealed the first official image of Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange in full costume. Check it out here.

According to the article, Cumberbatch hasn’t been appearing very often on set in costume as of the moment and filming only began in November so they’re quite far off from completion.

Cumberbatch himself says that he’s still getting the hang of playing the mage:

“It was like, okay, I’ve got to keep throwing these poses, these spells, these rune-casting things, everything he does physically. I’m thinking, there’s going to be a huge amount of speculation and intrigue over the positioning of that finger as opposed to it being there, or there. And I’m still working on that. We haven’t played any of those scenes yet. I felt really self-conscious. But, then, by the end, it was great. It’s like anything, you just have to experiment.”

In a nutshell Doctor Strange follows the story of neurosurgeon Doctor Stephen Strange who, after a horrific car accident, discovers the hidden world of magic and alternate dimensions. He will be portrayed by none other than Benedict Cumberbatch who signed on to the project last year.

The main cast also includes Chiwetel Eijofor (Serenity) , Rachel McAdams (Mean Girls), Michael Stuhlbarg (Men in Black 3), Mads Mikkelsen (Hannibal, Star Wars Rogue One) as well as Tilda Swinson (Chronicles of Narnia). Their roles haven’t yet been revealed (beside’s Cumberbatch’s anyway) but these will likely surface in the months to come.

Doctor Strange is set to open in theatres 4 November 2016.
