The latest addition to J.K Rowling’s sprawling wizarding world is making ripples across its vast fandom; and now we have more images of the upcoming movie to whet your appetite.
Set in New York 70 years before the events of Harry Potter; Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is a prequel based on the textbook of the same name. The movie follows the adventure of its author, Newt Scamander as portrayed by Eddie Redmayne who is a “magizoologist” a person who studies magical creatures. Rowling herself penned the screenplay, which will be directed by David Yates who also directed the last four Harry Potter movies.
The first images of the film are thanks to Entertainment Weekly, which shows Redmayne and co-star Katherine Waterson (Porpentina “Tina” Goldstein), Alison Sudol (Queenie Goldstein) and Dan Fogler (Jacob Kowalski) in action. The film will also star Colin Farrell, Samantha Morton and Ezra Miller.
The film is also rumoured to show a wizarding school similar to Hogwarts and will visit the U.S equivalent of the Ministry of Magic, the Magical Congress of the United States of America (MACUSA).
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will hit cinemas 18 November 2016, with two more “Fantastic Beasts” films to follow for the trilogy.
For those who want to get their next Harry Potter fix sooner, Rowling’s upcoming stageplay “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” will come June 2016 and is a sequel to Deathly Hallows.
