Rumours about Nintendo’s NX console have been floating about the ‘net for a long time now, and their hybrid console now named the Nintendo Switch has finally been revealed.
The hybrid console is basically a portable and a home console all in one; letting you hook it up to a TV via its base station or taking it with you and playing with its detachable controllers. In terms of specs, we don’t know what’s under the hood besides a custom NVIDIA Tegra processor. It will also use cartridges.
The Switch can basically transition into either mode on the fly, just lift it from the dock and it goes into portable mode. Each Joy-Con controller (that’s what they’re being called) allows one person to play, so you can go two player on the go as well.
Alternatively, you can leave them on and use them as more traditional controls. If you want something more standard, there’s the optional Nintendo Switch Pro Controller as well.
As for games, Nintendo is planning on releasing a version of The Legend of Zelda: breath of the Wild for the Switch and if the teaser trailer footage is to be believed; we’ll be getting games like Mario, Splatoon, Mario Kart, an NBA game and Skyrim on the Switch. We don’t know if these will be brand new games or ports at the moment.
