The filming of Assassin’s Creed starring Micheal Fassbender (X-Men: First Class, Steve Jobs) has already begun and now we have the first glimpse of the main character courtesy of Yahoo! Movies.
The actor will be portraying Callum Lynch, a totally new character made specifically for this movie. According to the director Justin Kurzel who had just recently done MacBeth with Fassbender, the producers felt it is wiser to introduce a brand new character instead of tapping into the game’s lore.
According to FOX, the film’s synopsis is:
“Through a revolutionary technology that unlocks his genetic memories, Callum Lynch experiences the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. Callum discovers he is descended from a mysterious secret society, the Assassins, and amasses incredible knowledge and skills to take on the oppressive and powerful Templar organization in the present day.”
Besides Fassbender, Marion Cottilard (MacBeth, Inception) will be co-starring this movie with Micheal Kenneth Williams (Robocop) and Ariane Labed (Alps, Attenberg) in the cast. The movie is set for the cinemas five days after the release of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story which is 21 December 2016.
