Guillermo del Toro has shared a major revelation of the cancelled Silent Hill project with Kojima. And it is heartbreaking for most fans.

He tweeted a series of images saying Junji Ito, the famous Japanese horror mangaka was the artist of the project. To those who are not familiar with Ito-san’s work, he is famous for the warped horror series Uzumaki, a story about a rural town with a morbid obsession with spirals became a live action movie. Or Gyo, where Okinawa was invaded by mutant killer fish with metal legs – a relic of World War II research. His visuals and storytelling is famous even outside Japan.

He created GYO. The ONLY comic that has actually made me jump- with a moment that follows this image… pic.twitter.com/Fo8FuhT3Gt

This also explains why there is a lot of spiral imagery in the Silent Hill playable teaser that was yanked out by Konami months ago.
Perhaps one day these three minds – Kojima, del Toro and Itoh can get together on another project. Meanwhile, let’s weep on what-could-have-been – an awesome and disturbing horror game.
