Seeing that most lightsabers need to be shipped, do you have any advice for people buying sabers from overseas or with post?
For safety reasons and to save on shipping, I highly recommend that people visit Lightsaber League Malaysia on Facebook. It is a page started by my friend Tintoy Chuo as a way for lightsaber fans to share their passion and knowledge with each other. It is currently the largest lightsaber group in Malaysia and a great place to learn more about the hobby. They were also behind the successful lightsaber flashmob that was conducted at KLCC last year and Dataran Merdeka this year.
They have also organised group buys for Ultrasabers every month. I highly recommend joining the group and be a part of the community if you are truly interested.
If you prefer make your own purchases, always make sure you buy from a reputable company. If you are not sure, do more research and ask a lot of questions. Also pay extra for insurance and don’t skim on it. The sabers can come from halfway around the world and you will want insurance if it gets damaged during shipping.
But ultimately, joining a group buy from a proven company is the safest and most economical.
