Monster Musume/ モンスター娘のいる日常 or Daily Life with Monster Girl based on popular manga by Takemaru Inui finally shows a new trailer and theme OP song. The series will be airing in July 2015, signifying another harem series that tries to make its mark on otaku’s mind. Perhaps it can be, since the “girls” are not entirely human – they are mythical monsters such as lamia, centaur, mermaid, ice maiden, harpy etc.
Seven volumes of tankubon manga has already out since March 2012, serialized in Monthly Comic Ryu which targetted at seinen readership. The story is fairly straightforward, a lucky (or unlucky, depends on your preference) guy got enrolled into “Interspecies Cultural Exchange” program by mistake and forced to share his life with multiple monster girls.
Directed by Tatsuya Yoshihara (Namiuchigiwa no Muromi-san, Yoru no Yatterman) with series composition fell to Kazuyuki Fudeyasu (Ben-To, Yoru no Yatterman) and animation direction under Tatsuya Sunagawa (Namiuchigiwa no Muromi-san) and Shunji Akasaka . Music is by manzo and Hiroaki Tsutsumi (Ao Haru Ride, Joshiraku) with animation is done by the rising star Studio Lerche (Assassination Classroom, Danganropa the Animation).
Casting wise, names like Sora Amamiya (Plastic Memories, Aldnoah Zero) , Ari Ozawa (The Rollin Girls, Shigatsu Kimi no Uso), Natsuki Aikawa, Sakura Nakamura and Haruka Yamazaki are present in this series. Notably, the majority of the cast are debutants whereas the lead female character is voiced by an up and rising VA who has done stellar work as Princess Assyelum (Aldnoah Zero) and Isla (Plastic Memories).
It seems like another brainless, fun series which tries to repackage the harem tropes with monster-girls instead of normal, boring humans this time.
