If all goes to plan, Japan is hoping to stage a high-profile Robot Olympics alongside the 2020 Summer Games to be hosted in Tokyo. The objective of the games is to treble the size of the nation’s robotic industry, and revitalise the economy, as stated by Shinzo Abe, Japan’s prime minister.
Japan has been famed as a pioneer in the robotics industry, and the games will be platform for Japan to showcase its prowess.
Abe mentioned that Japan would set up a council on making a robotic revolution a reality, to aid Japan’s growth. Robotics has been highlighted to potentially revive Japan’s economy in the coming decades, especially in view of the nation’s aging population and declining workforce.
