We already know that Square Enix‘s Just Cause franchise was heading to the big screen, but they now just announced that Jason Momoa (Aquaman) is set to star in the new film.
The movie will be directed by Brad Peyton (San Andreas) with script to be handled by John Collee (Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World), so the movie is already looking pretty solid. Peyton and Momoa have previously worked together on Netflix’s Frontier.
Story wise, it will center around Momoa’s character Rico Rodriquez who is an operative for the Agency. There isn’t any official plot details yet, but it supposedly focuses on Rico’s crisis of conscience while on a mission. In all likelihood the story will try to follow one of the games in the series as Rico is the main character in all three of them. Or it could be something brand new, we’d like to be surprised though.
More on this once they drop more details.
