When “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child“ was originally announced, Potter fans worldwide were over the moon, even when it was turned into a play. Now it seems J.K Rowling has other ideas for the story.
“Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” is set to debut at the Palace Theatre, London on 30 July, Harry’s birthday. However, Rowling has just announced that the script of the play will be released as a two-part book on 31 July.
However, the play itself is not written by Rowling, but rather playwright Jack Thorne, based on an “original new story” Rowling wrote with Thorne and theater director John Tiffany but never released it as a book. The story itself is set 19 years after the end of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” the last book of the series.
Harry is “an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband, and father of three school-age children.”
The three children in question are, Albus, James and Lily; all of which are wizards.
In “Harry Pottter and the Cursed Child,” Albus struggles “with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted,” the announcement said. “As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: Sometimes darkness comes from unexpected places.”
This won’t be the only Potter-related releases this year either, with “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them” coming out 18 November. So what do you think of the book? perhaps it would be the epilogue the Potter saga really needs.
