WWE Superstar John Cena has been cast as the main lead for the upcoming Bumblebee spinoff movie.
Cena joins Hailee Steinfeld, alongside Jorge Lendeborg, Jason Drucker, Abby Quinn, Rachel Crow, Ricardo Hoyos and Gracie Dzienny in the movie starring the yellow Autobot. Travis Knight, the guy behind Kubo and the Two Strings will be directing the movie, with the script handled by Christina Hudson. Production is being handled by Brian Goldner and Stephen Davis of Hasbro, Lorenzo Di Bonaventura, Steven Spielberg and Michael Bay.
Cena also has acted in a fair bit of films to date, including Dough Liman’s The Wall, Daddy’s Home, Sisters, Trainwreck and is set to appear in Daddy’s Home 2 and The Pact.
While the plot is still quite unknown, the movie is said to be set in the 1980; the era where the Transformers franchise was really active as a toy line and cartoon series.
The film has already begun production, and is set to drop 21 December 2018.
