Jude Law has just been cast to portray a younger Albus Dumbledore for the Fantastic Beasts sequel, before he became Hogwarts’ beloved headmaster.
At this point in his life, Dumbledore is the school’s Transfiguration professor and contemporary of Gellert Grindelwald, the Dark wizard from the previous film who was played by Johnny Depp.
Previously, Dumbledore was only referenced in the film, when he argued against Newt Scamander’s expulsion from Hogwarts due to an accident with a magical creature.
Director David Yates stated that ‘Jude Law is a phenomenally talented actor whose work I’ve long admired and I’m looking forward to finally having the opportunity to work with him. I know he will brilliantly capture all the unexpected facets of Albus Dumbledore as J.K. Rowling reveals this very different time in his life.’
We’re quite interested in seeing what Albus Dumbledore will look like in this earlier portion of his life, and we’re quite sure Jude Law will do Dumbledore justice.
