This is the last and perhaps most definitive trailer of Ridley Scott’s The Martian starring Matt Damon (Bourne series, Interstellar) , Micheal Pena (Ant-Man, Fury), Commander Jessica Chastain (Zero Dark Thirty, Interstellar), Sebastian Stan (Black Swan, Winter Soldier), Aksel Hennie (Last Knights, Hercules), Kate Mara (Fantastic Four), Jeff Daniels (Dumb and Dumber,Steve Jobs), Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years of Slave, Dr Strange), Sean Bean (Jupiter Ascending), Kristen Wiig (Masterminds) and Donald Glover (Magic Mike XXL).
Based on a novel by Andy Weir, the script has been entrusted to Drew Goddard (Cloverfield, World War Z) with supervision of a producer team consisting of Simon Kinberg, Ridley Scott, Micheal Schaefer, Aditya Sood and Mark Huffam. The latest synopsis from 20th Century Fox:
“During a manned mission to Mars, Astronaut Mark Watney (Matt Damon) is presumed dead after a fierce storm and left behind by his crew. But Watney has survived and finds himself stranded and alone on the hostile planet. With only meager supplies, he must draw upon his ingenuity, wit and spirit to subsist and find a way to signal to Earth that he is alive. Millions of miles away, NASA and a team of international scientists work tirelessly to bring “the Martian” home, while his crewmates concurrently plot a daring, if not impossible, rescue mission. As these stories of incredible bravery unfold, the world comes together to root for Watney’s safe return.”
We shall see Matt Damon’s fight for survival on Mars in the cinemas come 2 October 2015.
