The Legend of Tarzan

We finally have some visuals on the upcoming “Tarzan” movie as directed by David Yates. The movie will be starring Alexander Skarsgard as Tarzan with Margot Robbie as Jane.

The images came from USA Today, with a short synopsis of the film as well:

“…the movie finds John Clayton III, Lord Greystoke (Skarsgard), a decade removed from his home in the Congo and fully entrenched as a British gentleman in 1880s Victorian London, with his beloved wife Jane (Margot Robbie) by his side.

Tarzan seems to have split from his African home, but is constantly reminded of his earlier exploits and gets invited back as an emissary of Parliament. He hesitantly returns to the Congo and when his old friends and Jane gets put in danger, his new cliff-jumping, vine swinging adventure starts once more.

Other cast members for The Legend of Tarzan include Djimon Hounsou as Chief Mbonga, Samuel L. Jackson as real life figure George Washington Williams and Christoph Waltz as antagonist Leon Rom. The story is also quite a bit different from the classic retelling that anything Tarzan related tends to be, with Skarsgard saying that its a tale of “a man who’s holding back and slowly as you peel off the layers, he reverts back to a more animalistic state and lets that side of his personality out.”

Jane on the other hand is a ” …really strong, assertive, beautifully knowledgeable, very sexy modern woman who can more than look after herself”.

The Legend of Tarzan is set to hit cinemas 1 July 2016 during the summer movie blitz.
