Looks like Legendary Picture’s Dune adaptation is in good hands, as they’ve just brought on Eric Roth to work on the script for the film.
Roth is credited to working on films such as Forrest Gump, The Insider, Ali, Munich, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, just to name a few. He has a fantastic track record and we’re quite certain his addition to the project pretty much gives us hope for the new Dune.
Here’s the synopsis:
Set in the distant future, “Dune” follows Paul Atreides, whose family assumes control of the desert planet Arrakis. As the only producer of a highly valuable resource, jurisdiction over Arrakis is contested among competing noble families. After Paul and his family are betrayed, the story explores themes of politics, religion, and man’s relationship to nature, as Paul leads a rebellion to restore his family’s reign.
Dune is also being directed by Denis Villeneuve, who has also worked on Arrival, Sicario and Blade Runner 2049. We have high hopes for the film, and even if it does somehow flop, it should be a visual feast at the very least.
Hopefully more details will be out for the movie soon.
