Following the announcement that The Lion King was getting a live-action adaptation (don’t ask us how though), Disney has just confirmed that Mulan will be going live-action as well.
But the good news is, Mulan is quite ripe for getting its own live-action movie, and Disney is currently seeking a Chinese actress to play the role, holding worldwide auditions as soon as they are able. Disney reportedly is pushing for the film to release in line with its other live-action adaptations, with Beauty and the Beast to hit in March next year.
The story will be the same story of Chinese legend Hua Mulan, who disguised herself as a man to replace her father in the army and go to war. Unlike The Jungle Book, this one isn’t going to be a musical.
The tentative release date for the film is 2 November 2018, though the project doesn’t yet have a director on board.
