There’s going to be a new Lupin III anime special called “Lupin III Italian Game” which will air in Japan on NTV, 8 January 2016.

For those unfamiliar with Lupin’s exploits, he’s a legendary thief who’s shenanigans started all the way in 1984. Its been three decades since he has graced the TV screen so this anime special should come as good news to fans. Currently, the Lupin III series is airing on Japanese TV.

The special’s story will revolve around the kidnapping of Rebecca Rossellini, who is a beautiful business owner and is a featured character in the current Lupin anime. Hearing of her kidnapping, Lupin rushes to the rescue but he also receives a written challenge from the mysterious “The Masked Count” that challenges him to a race of sorts. In this case, who can obtain the “inheritance of Count Cagliostro” first.

As for the series, Kazuhide Tomonaga (Lupin the 3rd: The Mystery of Mamo and Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro is the chief director for Lupin III, with Yuchiro yano (Moyashimon, Francesca, Mujin Wakusei Survive, Patapata Hikōsen no Bōken) is directing. Writing is by Yuuya Takahashi (Donten ni Warau, Tiger & Bunny, Lupin the IIIrd: Daisuke Jigen’s Gravestone) and composer is Yuji Ohno, with Sayuri Ishikawa as the singer of the end theme.
