Another reboot is crawling out from the grave; as M.Night Shyamalan is digging out a reboot for Tales from the Crypt.

Tales from the Crypt is based off the EC Comics series of the same name as created by William Gaines. The show’s host, the Crypt Keeper is an iconic figure in the horror genre; also known for stories with Twilight Zone style twists.

The new horror anthology will feature content as curated by Shyamalan;

“To be part of such a beloved brand like Tales From the Crypt, something I grew up watching, and to also have the chance to push the boundaries of genre television as a whole, is an inspiring opportunity that I can’t wait to dive into,” Shyamalan says.

Also, in a rather strange twist, the Cryptkeeper himself apparently isn’t making a comeback. The reasoning for this is that HBO still owns the character rights. Instead the show will be “highlighted by an old man with a cane, wearing a hood, and keeping warm by a fireplace”. This has been confirmed by John Kassir, the voice of the HBO Crypt Keeper.

Though they haven’t yet released a concrete release date, The Tales from the Crypt reboot will debut on TNT in Fall. Hopefully it can hold a candle to the original series considering the changes.
