Magi: Adventure of Sinbad or Magi: Sinbad no Bouken/マギ シンドバッドの冒険 , a spin-off /prequel of popular anime series Magi is getting an anime adaptation for April 2016 broadcast.
Based on works of Ohtaka Shinobu and Yoshifumi Ohtera, the anime series will be directed by Miyao Yoshikazu (Inazuma Eleven, Hellsing and GadGuard OPs) who used to direct the OVAs. Script is handled by Taku Kishimoto (Silver Spoon, Usagi Drop) with character designing falling to Soichiro Sako. Music score will be done by Tomohiro Ookubo with Lay-duce (Go! Go! 575) doing animation production.
The production team will be doing the series under AOS Project and it is set to broadcast in midnight slots “Animesms” in Japan. The story of Sinbad which is set 30 years before events in Magi was earlier chronicled in five OVAs/OADs that is bundled together with the mangas since 2014.
Daisuke Ono (Terra Formars, Haruhi Suzumiya no Yuutsu) will be the voice of Sinbad, legendary Tomokazu Sugita (Gintama) as Dragul, Akira Ishida (Athrun Zala in Gundam SEED) as Yunan and Ai Kayano who did the lovely voice of Menma in AnoHana as Serendine. Finally, the famous Katsuyuki Konishi who did the voice of Kamina from Gurren Lagaan will be starring as Badr.
On the other hand, the eighth volume of the manga will be out in 16th October this year.
