Margot Robbie (Wolf of the Wall Street), has been confirmed as Harley Quinn in the upcoming Warner Bros movie Suicide Squad. Before this, rumours were buzzing that supermodel Cara Delevingne was a front contender for the role, but looks like the “Pudding” calling squeeze to the Clown Prince of Crime, the Joker, has finally gotten her actress.

This isn’t the only comic character role she’s been approached to play as previously, she was also in talks to take on the role of Major Kusanagi for the live action Ghost in the Shell movie. That however didn’t fall through.

The Suicide Squad follows a team of government controlled supervilians forced to take on exceptionally dangerous jobs as part of a program to reduce their jail sentences. Managed by hard as nail Amanda Waller, they have to either get with the program or get their heads blown of with a specially implanted device. The movie version has David Ayer (Fury) as writer and director for the upcoming movie.

It’ll be interesting to see just who else will be included into the movie version of the Squad. Considering that a TV version of the Squad is already in play on Arrow, and likely to appear in future episodes of The Flash, there should be some clear cut differences between the two versions… hopefully.

One thing that’s annoying us though is news that the Joker will be appearing in the movie. There are already rumours that big names like Jared Leto, Will Smith, Tom Hardy and even Ryan Gosling are in talks for the role. Now if the Joker’s there as maybe a supporting character for Harly Quinn, then MAYBE we won’t be so annoyed. Here’s to hoping though. The same could be said about Lex Luthor’s appearance as Jesse Eisenberg will be reprising his role as the bald headed, Superman villain in the Suicide Squad movie, after the Batman vs Superman flick.

Suicide Squad is scheduled for an August 2016.
