This year’s World Cosplay Summit 2015 has come and gone, with teams from all over the world competing for the crown, with our own national representatives making an appearance too.
This time, the competition was swept away by team Mexico, Twin Cosplay as the Grand Champions. The pair also took home the Tabi Pad Award, ANA Prize and the Minister of Foreign Affairs Award. The competition this year was very stiff, with each team coming out with ever the more elaborate skits, costumes than last year, which brought in a total of 26 competing countries taking part.
In a weird bit of irony, last year’s competition saw Russia’s Nek and Nichi as the winners with a Legend of Zelda performance as well. At any rate, the performances were spectacular and you can catch them below:
Twin Cosplay, 1st place (Mexico)
Nadiask and Mogu Cosplay, 2nd place (Italy) with their Neon Genesis Evangelion skit, who also won the Laguna Tenbosch award.
Yummy Gamorah Cosplay and Alpacosplay, 3rd place (USA) with their Paradise Kiss performance; also winning the WCS Executive Committee Award.
Other prizes went to the following teams:
- Best Sound Effects: Japan (JOYSOUND Award)
- Best Costume : America (Brother Award)
- Best Performance: China (LIVEDAM Award)
- Best Wig : Spain (Cyperous Award)
- Best “Respect Score”: Hong Kong (Mobi Book Indie Award)
- Nico Audience Vote : Mexico (niconico Award)
- Most Thrilling and Exciting Cosplayers: Hong Kong (HIS Award)
So once again, congrats to all the finalists! Everyone put on a fantastic show this year!
