Dominic Toretto once said, “The most important thing in life will always be the people in this room. Right here, right now. Salute mi familia.” But what happens when one of your family members threatens to leave?

In a recent Instagram post, Michelle Rodriguez who plays Dominic Toretto’s wife, Letty Ortiz threatened that if the upcoming Fast and Furious movies do not have more prominent female characters, she will leave.

Rodriguez does have a point. While she does have a prominent role herself – Letty is pretty much second in command after Dom – the rest of the female cast do not. Jordana Brewster who played Brian’s (Paul Walker) wife, Mia was pretty much just a glorified extra throughout the franchise. And since Paul Walker’s passing, she’s pretty much written out of the franchise too. Sure, Gal Gadot did play Gisele in the 4th, 5th and 6th instalment of this franchise, but let’s not fool ourselves, the only memorable scene that centred around Gal Gadot is this:

Heck, after flaunting her booty, Gisele dies. There’s also this girl from Game of Thrones played by Nathalie Emmanuel, whose character’s name nobody gives a damn about. She’s supposed to be this extremely smart person, but her true purpose in this franchise is to be the object of Roman and Tej’s sexual desires. And while Fate of the Furious starred Oscar-winning Charlize Theron, she played a villain. Which is awesome in and of itself, but I can see where Michelle Rodriguez is coming from. The Toretto extended family really does need more prominent females… and maybe even an Indian guy. I volunteer as tribute!
