Grand Moff Wilhuff Tarkin, dubbed as “one of the most formidable villains in Star Wars history” might make an appearance in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. He was played by the late Peter Cushing and the actor passed away in 1994, aged 81 years old. But his character is still strutting his stuff on The Clone Wars and Rebel animated TV series, voiced by Stephen Stanton.
According to the Daily Mail’s rumour, the character will be recreated digitally to give a sense of continuity since he made an appearance in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope (1977) and Rogue One‘s timeline takes place right before A New Hope. The source as quoted by the Daily Mail: “This is one of the most complex and costly CGI re-creations ever. Cushing is a pivotal plot line as he was the one to create Darth Vader and there’s a whole back story that will come out.”
Does it imply that we get to see Darth Vader in Rogue One too? Will the CGI re-creation pass the uncanny valley test?
We shall find the answers to the questions soon enough when the movie opens on 16 December 2016 in cinemas.
