I’m one of the few people who isn’t a huge fan of del Toro’s Hellboy movies. They’re enjoyable affairs and del Toro does know how to create gorgeous imagery. But at the end of the day, those movies felt too big for their own good.

In the studio’s eyes, del Toro’s Hellboy movies cost a lot of money to make, as most del Toro movies do, but didn’t make nearly enough profit to warrant a 3rd movie. In my eyes, Hellboy would work much better as smaller, dirtier, grittier film. Which is exactly what director Neil Marshall — Game of Thrones S2E9; Blackwater — says we’ll be getting with his new reboot.

The casting has been excellent so far, too with the likes of Stranger Things‘ David Harbour taking on the titular character and Ian McShane playing Professor Broom.

We now have more good news! Deadline reports that Milla Jovovich, more commonly known as “that badass chick from Resident Evil,” is set to play the villainous Nimue the Blood Queen. While I’m not a fan of the Resident Evil franchise, Milla Jovovich is excellent as the lead. She’s truly an undeniable badass!

The screenplay for Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen is written by Hellboy comics creator Mike Mignola, alongside Andrew Cosby and Christopher Golden.
