H.G. Wells’ alien invasion story War of the Worlds is getting turned into a TV series courtesy of MTV.
We expected a big production like to be picked up by the likes of Netflix or Fox but this is a surprise. MTV mostly does reality shows these days so it would be interesting to see how they will be handling the IP. The last time Wells’ classic was adapted into a full blown movie was in 2005, produced by Steven Spielberg. War of the Worlds has been adapted time and time again but not as a TV series since 1988.
We don’t know much else about the series yet but Jeff Davis and writer Andrew Cochran (Teen Wolf) will be the ones behind the project. There’s no release date for the series yet but we’re holding our judgement till we see a teaser.
