Summer is coming and there’s definitely plenty of anime you’d be hyped to check out during the season. With a good number of new and returning anime, you might be hard-pressed to figure out what to follow, especially if you have so little time.
No fear though, we’re here to help. Here are our five anime picks (in no particular order) for the Summer 2017 season that you should follow once they start off in July.
1. Katsugeki/Touken Ranbu
Katsugeki/Touken Ranbu is set in the year 1863 where the tumultuous samurai era is coming to an end. Two factions, the pro-shogunates and anti-shogunates, are waging war against each other.
However, an army of “historical revisionist” from the future suddenly turn up and threaten to alter the course of history as we know it. To protect the future, two sword warriors – spirits from two legendary swords brought to life – are sent to confront the invading forces.
If you love alt-history stories, this would definitely tickle your fancy. Throw in a good dose of action and you have yourself a potentially decent action anime in the works.
