Can you imagine if all your kids could learn coding at school? well this might just become a reality with the newly launched #mydigitalmaker movement.
The movement was officiated by Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib Bin Tun Haji Abdul Razak, in partnership with the Ministry of Education (MoE) to help create a nation of digital creators.
That’s right, kids will be able to learn coding in school soon, thanks to this initiative and MDEC.
Computer science and Computational Thinking will be integrated into formal school curriculum; to encourage more to pick up the necessary skills. We could always use more local innovators after all!
The subjects will officially be integrated into the new Standard Based Curriculum for Primary (KSSR) and Standard Based Curriculum for Secondary (KSSM) syllabus starting January 2017; hopefully to benefit an estimated 1.2 million students in schools nationwide.
