This year Netflix was planning to debut their own live-action reimagining of Death Note, but crime has struck the set of the film and it was burglarised.

Not only have the thieves made off with a drive with VFX shots and a binder with bank information, they left a note saying “I was here”. Not signed by Kira of course.

Hopefully, nobody’s actually written in Ryuk’s Death Note.

Director Adam Wingard also made a few tweets regarding the matter, including a picture of cops on the scene.

That’s some heavy weaponry there.

There have been a handful of Death Note adaptations over the years, but this would be the first time a western production has gotten their hands on such a project. Perhaps someone is unhappy? while there aren’t any actual delays announced as of yet, hopefully, this doesn’t put any significant delays into the project.
