Capcom confirmed there will be sixteen fighters in the new Street Fighter V game with four completely new characters.
Perhaps in lieu of numerous criticisms of the Street Fighter IV, the company announced that players will get balance updates and system adjustments for free, plus players can pick up DLC characters just by playing the game. According to Capcom’s Peter “Combofiend” Rosas in his post at the PlayStation blog:
“Street Fighter 5 will be the first iteration in the franchise where it is possible for dedicated players to earn all gameplay related content (such as characters) for free, simply by playing the game,” Rosas said. “Long gone are the days of forced Super and Ultra upgrades! Enjoy free balance updates as soon as they become available, and find and choose the post-launch characters that you want to get.”
That also means the players will only need the initial release disc of the game. Rosas also named seven characters in the post – Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, Charlie Nash, M.Bison, Birdie and Cammy. He said that Capcom plans to issue more frequent updates to keep the game fresh with better replayability. At the moment, game features two types of in-game currency – Zenny and Fight Money. Fight Money can be obtained by simply playing the game whereas Zenny can be purchased with real-world money. Both can be used to buy new content such as new characters.
Meanwhile, during EVO 2015, the company showed off a new unique character, Necalli. The fighter sports wild looking hairdo and relies on grappling as his modus operandi. From what we can see, his arsenal includes grabs, dive kicks and fast claw slashes while his V mode triggers the full power of his insane flowing locks. Shades of Satsui no Hado?
Anyway, the game is set for a release next year and the company will be rolling out the betas soon worldwide.
