Popular adventure role-playing and dating simulator Sakura Wars is making a come back. Details of the new game are scarce but Sega properly confirms that it will be a brand-new entry for the long-running Sega exclusive.
Sega dropped the teaser during Sega Fes 2018 with a few choice words and one backdrop visual, complete with sakura petals billowing about, as the reveal.
All it can share at the live-stage event is how the new game will be set in the imperial city of Tokyo; specifically, during the Taisho Era or circa 1929.
The final Sakura Wars game to hit stores in Japan is 2005, featuring the last title in the main series – Sakura Wars: So Long, My Love. It had been an exclusive for the Sony PlayStation 2 console until 2009 when the Nintendo Wii got a port of the game.
An official press release is out too (in Japanese) that puts out additional details like setting and a reiteration of the big announcement from the Sega Fes 2018. It also confirms that the new game will be out in Japan and for all Asia regions at the same time.
More details are likely to be out by E3 2018.
