Mobile Suit Gundam The Origin/機動戦士ガンダム THE ORIGIN just concluded it’s limited premiere run at cinemas across South East Asia for its first movie and the sequel will follow up in this year’s fall with the title: “Sorrowful Artesia” / 機動戦士ガンダム ORIGIN II 哀しみのアルテイシア.
The story in the second movie will take place three years after the children of Zeon Zum Daikun escaped the colonial home to Earth. The siblings took up pseudonyms of Sayla and Char respectively to hide from Zeon Republic spies on Earth. Also, this particular episode will show the evolutionary start of Mobile Suit development in Universal Century era especially the Zakus at Side 3 colony.
The crew is still the same, Yoshikazu Yasuhiko will be the chief director for the adaptation partnering Sunrise Studio veteran Takashi Imanishi (Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory, Mobile Suit Gundam MS IGLOO) as episodic director. Official scriptwriter will be Katsuyuki Sumisawa (Inuyasha, Mobile Suit Gundam Wing). Sunrise plans for 4 movies on this story arc which basically focusing on the beginnings of Amuro Rey’s greatest foe in the franchise history.
The manga that the movies based on, begins in 2001 and ends its run ten years later with 23 tankubon volumes in print.
