The Animal Crossing mobile game we’ve been waiting for has been just pushed aside by Nintendo to make way for Fire Emblem Heroes.
Animal Crossing was originally slated for release early this year and would have been free to play. The news comes via Nintendo’s financial statement, the excerpt of which can be read below:
For smart devices, we plan to release the game application Fire Emblem Heroes on February 2. We will also follow last December’s release of Super Mario Run for iOS with an Android version in March. To accommodate the releases and operation of these applications, we have revised the release schedule for Animal Crossing, which we had originally planned to release during this period. This title will be released during the next fiscal year.
Thankfully, they haven’t canceled it outright and I for one would still want to give the game a try (I’ve played one of the original Animal Crossings myself). Expect it to arrive sometime after 1 April, as that’s when Nintendo’s fiscal year begins.
