Looks like Nintendo has finally decided to cease production of the Wii U system, to make way for the release of the Nintendo Switch.
If you were to head over to Nintendo’s Japanese website now the Wii U has a caption beneath it stating that production is scheduled to end soon, as you can see below:
However, it also states that its limited to Japan for now, so its not totally going away so soon. Rumours have been floating about that the company would be ceasing production, with the company saying that production will end March 2018, but in a recent statement to Polygon, they’ve said that it will end “in the near future”.
But for those wanting to get the Wii U outside of Japan, the hardware will still be around for awhile yet, so if you wanted to pick one up, you might want to do so soon.
