Nintendo has confirmed the global release date for the enigmatic Nintendo NX console and it will be available in stores from March 2017. As many have expected, the release will miss the crucial Christmas window.
This revelation confirms, the rumours circulating on a possible Nintendo NX port of the awaited Zelda for Wii U game, as the company verified the game for its new console.
It is also presumed that the upcoming Zelda for Wii U, which was expected to arrive this year will now be released of at the same time as the Nintendo NX console.
On the console itself, Nintendo has only revealed that it will be a “brand new concept”. Furthermore, it will not make an appearance at this year’s E3 conference. Instead, the company will focus its effort firmly on Zelda.
Fans of Nintendo will still have some releases to look forward to as titles for the 3DS including Pokémon Sun/Moon, Kirby: Planet Robobot and Metroid Prime: Federation Force are still on track for a 2016 release.
However, Wii U fans will be left with few titles to look forward to only Paper Mario: Color Splash has been announced for this year.
Over the last year, Nintendo has sold over 3 million copies of Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer and 1.2 million copies of Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon for the 3DS. While, Wii U sold 4.2 million copies of the shooter Splatoon and 3.5 million copies of Super Mario Maker.
