Originally leaked last week via a poster, it’s now been made official that Destiny is indeed getting a sequel.
While the announcement is out, Bungie hasn’t revealed anything much about Destiny 2 but we now have extra details along with the release date.

However, we have found that you will be able to transfer your characters over from the original Destiny to Destiny 2, so if you’ve got a character you’re really attached to, you can bring them along for a brand new ride. The bad news is, none of the abilities and items you’ve been grinding out over the last few years gets to come with you.
They’ve also revealed the game synopsis along with a reveal trailer:
Humanity’s last safe city has fallen to an overwhelming invasion force, led by Ghaul, the imposing commander of the brutal Red Legion. He has stripped the city’s Guardians of their power, and forced the survivors to flee. You will venture to mysterious, unexplored worlds of our solar system to discover an arsenal of weapons and devastating new combat abilities. To defeat the Red Legion and confront Ghaul, you must reunite humanity’s scattered heroes, stand together, and fight back to reclaim our home.
Destiny 2 will be out this September.
