For a second there I actually believed that Resident Evil: The Final Chapter would actually be THE FINAL CHAPTER. Looks like I popped the champagne for nothing because there’s going to be more of this nonsense.
Variety is reporting that Martin Moszkowichz, chairman of the board at Constantin Film confirmed at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival that a REBOOT of the based-on-a-video-game franchise is currently in the works. German production company, Constantin Film owns the rights to the franchise.
The previously thought to be final film, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter somehow managed to gross a more than US $ 300 Mil worldwide (US $ 160 Mil in China alone), which presumably gave all the higher-ups at Constantin Film massive erections. Moszkowicz says that the goal is to make six new movies similar to the original franchise. #Shakycam #Poopemoji
Constantin Film isn’t revealing anything else at this time, probably because they’re too shy to admit that their plans include hiring the Rugrats to write the script with a box of crayons. However, it is assumed at this time that Paul W.S. Anderson would not be returning to direct the reboot, as he’s currently working on Monster Hunter.
Stay tuned for more updates.
