As random as it sounds, Paul McCartney will be joining the cast of Disney’s fifth installment of the franchise of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.
While we’re not sure how big his role is, its been said that McCartney will have at least once scene. He joins Johnny Depp, Geoffrey Rush, Javier Bardem, Kaya Scodelario, Brenton Thwaites and Orlando Bloom, with Espen Sandberg and Joachim Ronning as directors. Filming is apparently already complete but they’re shooting this one scene with McCartney. Why? we have no idea.
However, he isn’t the first rock star to appear in a PoTC movie, with Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards making an appearance in At World’s End and On Stranger Tides.
Here’s the synopsis:
Thrust into an all-new adventure, a down-on-his-luck Captain Jack Sparrow finds the winds of ill-fortune blowing even more strongly when deadly ghost pirates led by his old nemesis, the terrifying Captain Salazar (Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle, determined to kill every pirate at sea…including him. Captain Jack’s only hope of survival lies in seeking out the legendary Trident of Poseidon, a powerful artifact that bestows upon its possessor total control over the seas.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is set to debut 26 May 2017.
