Sony recently revealed the pricing of their much awaited PlayStation VR but forgot to mention that you will need an extra bit of gear to get it working.
The PSVR has been announced for a 4 October launch for $399 (about RM 1651) which places it cheaper than HTC’s Vive and the Oculus Rift. However they forgot to mention that you’ll be needing a PlayStation 4 camera for it to work, which comes up to another $60 (about RM 248) which isn’t included in the package.
The camera is needed to provide positional tracking for the headset; which Sony says they aren’t bundling in because many customers already own the accessory.
Aside from gaming, the PSVR also has a cinematic mode that allows you to watch movies and play games which weren’t built for VR, including pre-existing PS4 titles.
“Supported content for the Cinematic mode includes standard PS4 games and videos as well as variety of PS4 features including Share Play and Live from PlayStation. Users will also be able to enjoy 360 degrees photos and videos that are captured by devices such as omnidirectional cameras on PS VR via PS4 Media Player, which will let them feel as if they are physically inside the captured scene.”
The PlayStation VR will launch globally 4 October 2016, and here are some of the games that are coming for the PSVR. Will you be picking up one? let us know in the comments.
